Day 77: A Pinch

The Irish were always developing some odd tradition or other, but St. Patrick’s Day carried its own special brand of crazy. Fountains turned green, pranks were played, and ale was drunk in celebration of a religious holiday. The irony wasn’t lost on Gideon even as he participated in his countrymen’s revels. Unfortunate friends who forgot green on that fated day were viciously mocked, teased, and received the dreaded pinch. Gideon knew some blokes who would pinch so hard they left marks, even on ladies, but he couldn’t bring herself to do that. He couldn’t even bring himself to even mention it to the serious, pretty girl at the back of his English seminar as she cried silently.
